Roy’s Blog: “Crazy Times”

2 Timothy 3:1 (KJV) “In the last days perilous times shall come.”

It seems as if every day gets a little bit crazier. In many major metros, rats and trash infest large areas with homeless people living in horrible conditions. You can’t walk down the sidewalk without being threatened with assault, drug dealing, or stepping in human feces or on a used needle. Among the homeless, drug usage and poor living conditions have contributed to many health issues. Some examples are HIV, Hepatitis B, and Staph infections. Cases of Hepatitis A, once considered a mild self-limiting illness, have become deadly in these homeless areas.

In contrast, the Powerball jackpot usually reaches into the millions of dollars fueled by the monies of the lower and middle-income people. Many states are beginning to legalize marijuana, and it is becoming a booming market.

Canada is now the world’s largest legal marijuana marketplace. Huge numbers of people line up to buy cannabis and cannabis products–legally.

We have a record-breaking hurricane in the Gulf, record rainfall in areas of Texas, North and South Carolina, and Virginia. Hundreds of people are still missing from the hurricane in Florida.

With all this going on, you have people spending their days and weeks protesting, harassing, rioting. Others debate politics and trade stories of fishing and sports. Very little discussion of God, the Bible, or the perilous times that are the here and now, times of hate, anger, fear, and hopelessness. Times of apathy toward God.

As I look at things, these are perilous times.
