Roy’s Blog: “For Such a Time as This”

In the book of Esther, Mordecai told Esther that she rose to the position of Queen of Persia for the saving of the Jewish people.

He said, “You have risen to your royal position for such a time as this.” Esther 4:14

Esther was a young woman of beauty brought into the King’s harem. He was unaware that she was a Jew. He just knew that she was a beauty and he liked her so made her his Queen. The Jewish people were in danger of being eradicated from the land by edict of the King. Esther risked her life by going in to the King without a request beforehand. She devised a plan to save her people and it worked. It’s a beautiful account of how God provides for His people.

Because of that great day, a festival was established that the Jews celebrate today–the Feast of Purim. It is a feast of triumph, and of the miraculous care of God. His providence is a miracle in filtering down millions of women to one Jew, chosen to be Queen.

The book of Esther doesn’t describe a miracle. The whole book of Ester is a miracle.

The message is this: while you’re going through all your life, there is a divine architect at work.
