Ephesians 5:15-16 “Be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise making the most of your time, because the days are evil.”
When I look back, it seems like I was a young man just a few years ago. Newly married, starting life. But time has flown. Fifty years have passed. I don’t have to tell anyone I’m a senior. They automatically give me a discount because they can see it for themselves: wrinkles and what little hair I have is grey.
We spend so much of our short time on earth focused on things that really don’t matter. Is every speck of dust gone from the top of the refrigerator? Is my house decorated enough for the holidays? Little things we stress over that make the time we have less enjoyable and less productive. Redeem your time. Focus on the things of life that matter most. Having a relationship with Jesus Christ is the most important thing you or your family can have this Christmas. You will have an abounding joy that no amount of money can buy.
Explain the birth of Christ to your children, not just the Christmas story. Explain why God sent His Son. It doesn’t start in Matthew. It starts in Genesis and goes through Revelation. It will take more than a few minutes on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. It might take all year.
It will be time well spent.
