Roy’s Blog: “Is Being Good Enough?”

Galatians 3:1a “Oh, foolish Galatians! Who has cast an evil spell on you? For the meaning of Jesus Christ’s death was made clear to you as if you had seen a picture of his death on the cross.”

Foolish doesn’t refer to their lack of intelligence, but to their lack of obedience.

Those in Galatians who insisted then, as well as people today who insist they can earn salvation by being good or by their own efforts, undercut the foundation of Christianity which is the birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. They discount the grace of God as less important than their own efforts.

Ephesians 2:8 “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith– and this is not from yourselves; it is the gift of God…”

Multitudes struggle every day to live good lives. Honest, hardworking, endeavoring to be good, yet they are empty. They declare their innocence before God but have no answer for the times they failed. We all fail to be perfect. That’s why we rely on the only one who was to save us–Jesus Christ. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.”

We will never manage to be “good enough” but through the grace of God, His children are washed white as snow–cleansed from all unrighteousness.
