I Timothy 1:15 “Christ came into the world to save sinners, among whom I am the foremost of all.”
God transforms lives.
In Timothy, Paul is talking about himself. He was chief among sinners. In his ignorance and unbelief he had persecuted God’s people. But God in His mercy transformed Paul and filled him with faith and love that comes from Jesus Christ.
The list of transformed lives is endless. It includes gang members, immoral people, and murderers. All of them were transformed by Jesus Christ.
The Bible records the conversions of the maniac of Gadara, the despised tax collector who cheated his own people–Zaccheus, blind Bartimaeus, the adulterous Samaritan woman, and the Roman centurion at the crucifixion. Of all the conversions ever recorded, none was more remarkable than Paul’s.
Paul never lost the wonder that God could, and would, redeem someone like him. Neither should we.
