Psalm 119:2 “How blessed are those who observe His testimonies. Who seek Him with all their heart.”
The number one thing you hear people say they want is, “I just want to be happy.”
Zaccheus was just like most people. If you asked him about his life, he would have said, “I just want to be happy.” He had an important position. He was chief tax collector at Jericho. He was rich. He could buy most anything he wanted. But he was miserable.
Much like many in America are today. They have more things, more and better food, better health care, and more entertainment than ever. Many are still not happy. The amount of feel-good drugs in America is booming. But the suicide rate, even in the richer society, has skyrocketed. Things, no matter what they are, don’t result in happiness.
What made the difference in Zaacheus’s life was a personal encounter with Jesus Christ. What makes the difference in our lives is a personal relationship with Jesus. That makes us happy.
Psalm 92:4 (ESV) “For you, O Lord, have made me glad by your work; at the works of your hands I sing for joy.”
