Philippians 4:19 (NASB) “My God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”
True happiness is not in our power to obtain because we always want more. We reach a certain plateau, get used to it, become dissatisfied, and then we want more. The search for pleasure, wealth, and/or success is ultimately disappointing.
Sometimes there are circumstances beyond our control that can take away our possessions, our health, our happiness. Nothing in this world can fill the emptiness and satisfy the deep longings in restless hearts except Jesus.
In Matthew 19:16, the rich young ruler came to Jesus searching for true happiness. But, because of his love for his great wealth, he went away brokenhearted and sad.
Isaiah 26:3 (ESV) “You will keep in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you.”
