Psalm 119:5 (NLT) “Oh that my actions would consistently reflect your principles!”
Everybody wants to be happy. If you ask parents what they want for their children most will say, “I just want them to be happy.” Fewer and fewer people are truly happy. Why?
The reason is their happiness is driven by events, activities, or others people in their lives. More and more our thoughts and time is directed towards outside things. Sports, clubs, civic organizations, electronic games, and social media all vie for their attention. People are busy, but they aren’t happy. Many are miserable and even though they may have a thousand friends on social media sites, they are lonely.
They have moments of happiness, but it doesn’t last. It’s not rooted in anything. True happiness comes from a deep and abiding JOY that springs up from within. People are confused because they have abandoned the joy that comes from the Lord, that gives happiness no matter what the circumstances.
The joy of the Lord is your strength, not the things of the world.
