Song Of Solomon 2:10b,13 (NASB, NLT) “Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, and come along. The fig trees are budding, and the grapevines are in blossom…Yes, spring is here!
Modern-day Israel many times was symbolized by the fig tree in the Scriptures. Israel was absent from its land for nearly 2000 years before beginning to come back, in the 1800’s, from her dispersion throughout the world. Then, on May 14, 1948, through many miraculous events, the Jewish nation regained statehood.
Is it coincidence that the spring of Israel’s rebirth as a nation corresponds with the season in which the fig tree buds, puts forth green leaves, and begins to develop figs? Is it happenstance that spring is also the season that the bridegroom comes for his bride, as pictured in the Song of Solomon?
(Matthew 24, Mark 13) Although no one knows the “day or hour” the Lord will return, God doesn’t leave us unaware. He tells us in His Word how to recognize the season, or when the time is near. Is spring the season?
Spring. It’s an important season to be watching!
