Roy’s Blog: “Where There’s Tracks, There’s Deer”

Luke 21:28 “But when these things begin to take place, straighten up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”

I used to go deer hunting every opportunity I had. One year early in the morning I decided to take my tractor into the woods near my deer stand. I knew that deer are usually not scared by something they see and hear often, like my tractor. It was almost daybreak and I was going slow to watch for tracks. I was at the edge of the woods that opened out into a clearing when I saw some huge tracks in front of the tractor. I got off the tractor so I could examine the tracks better. I bent down looking down at those huge fresh tracks and trying to decide which way the deer was headed. I was relishing the opportunity I would have getting that big deer, when all of a sudden I heard a loud snort. I looked up just in time to see the tail end of a huge buck bounding off into the trees. If I had stopped gazing down and been looking up, I would have seen the buck in time.

I missed out because even though I saw the signs, I wasn’t ready. The signs are there today for the coming of the Lord. You can see them, but are you ready?
