Ephesians 2:19 “You are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God’s household.”
It’s so wonderful to belong, to fit in, to be part of a group. Being on the outside looking in is heartbreaking. You can feel so alone, even with masses of people around you.
The demonic man at Gadara, in the Bible, must have felt very alone and isolated. He was chained in the tombs with no one to share his struggles and daily turmoil. He had only the demons inside him that tormented him and drove him crazy. No one wanted to be around him.
We sometimes find ourselves isolated and lonely, depressed, and in turmoil. But, when we look up we can be filled with hope in our darkest moments, because we belong. We have a place, our place. It is a very special beautiful place we belong. We are no longer bound to this earth. We have a heavenly home, where we will be with others who have gone before us. We belong–to the family of God. Even while we’re on this earth, we belong to a group. You can go to the far reaches of the earth and find others who belong to Jesus. These are your family. The family of God.
Jesus said “I will never leave you or forsake you.” Let your heart rejoice!
