Ephesians 6:4 “Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.”
It is tragic that 70 plus percent of our children grow up without a father’s influence in the home in America. The metro areas, in particular, are lacking this needed influence.
My wife took a picture the other day of us standing beside each other, the sun at our backs. Our shadows stretched out in front of us across the sidewalk. Every movement, every cloud, had an affect on our shadows.
Children are, or should be like little shadows watching our every move. Learning about life and how to act. And, we as parents, Dads and Moms, should be teaching them the right way to conduct themselves. To do that you have to spend time with them, not on the phone, not competing with video games. Work on the car, cook. In other words, do everyday life with them as your shadow. They will learn how to do everyday things, and they will see how you react to problems and hardships that come up.
We have an affect on our kids and everyone around us. Our actions, or lack of when needed, affects others. Today we see the result of missing fathers in our homes. Children and mothers who have lived lives without the security, love, and guiding influence of a father in the home. This is one of the contributing factors in our decline as a nation and a foreview of what is to come.
