Roy’s Blog: “Change”

Revelation 12:2a (NLT) “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.”

Everybody wants to change something about themselves. They are looking for the best way to lose weight, look younger, change their hair style or color. Changing our appearance is big business. If you look in book stores there is a huge section on diet books, healthy recipes, the best foods to eat, how and when to eat them. If you stacked the books and magazines up they would make a pretty big mountain.

Many want to find solace in how to be happy or get rid of their depression. There is a big section on self-help or self-improvement books, from Bible-based to transcendentalism based. People want to change. They are not happy, and think if they just change something they will be happy. They feel trapped in a rut.

The fact is, no one is trapped. We all have a choice. We can change. It doesn’t take changing our appearance or our self-image.You can try for a lifetime to change yourself, but you’ll be disappointed with the results. It takes having a real relationship with the Savior.

Satan is a liar and he will feed you negative thoughts from the moment you wake up in the morning if you let him. So many times by the time you walk from the bedroom to the living room, Satan begins to whisper in your ear. He’ll say, “Who do you think you are? Your not worth it. You can’t change. See how you slipped up last night.”

But the Bible says, “The Truth shall make you free.” The truth is you can change with God’s help. Start your morning with prayer and the devil will flee.
