Psalm 112:6b (NASB) “The righteous will be remembered forever.”
At the Epcot Center in Orlando, Florida, they have a feature as you first walk in. They placed giant slabs of polished black granite with a big sign that says, “Leave Your Legacy.”
For a fee, they will take your picture and chemically transfer it onto these granite rocks, so for all time your tiny picture will be there in stone. Thousands of people have paid to have their pictures immortalized in stone.
Why? Because deep down inside everyone wants to leave a legacy. They want to feel like their lives mattered. Some write books. Others leave signed art. They want people to remember that they were here. There are people that are remembered by family and friends because of their kindness to others. A few are remembered for a certain brave act. Sadly, some are remembered for horrific acts.
How do you leave a lasting legacy to be proud of? The starting point is your foundation. Paul said in I Corinthians 3:11 “For other foundation can no man lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”
We all yearn to be remembered here on earth. That is still temporary. The things that last are what you do for Christ. They will be stored in heaven for eternity.
