Philippians 3:10a “That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection.”
I think in all the years I’ve been in the ministry, the number one question people ask me is, “Why can’t I change?” They say they want to change, but just can’t seem to do it.
Many go to recovery groups looking for a painless cure that will zap their life and change them instantly. Their enthusiasm is great…for a few weeks. Then, reality sets in. Their enthusiasm wanes when they find out it is a long, hard process, and they return to their same old ways.
I hear it often. “How do I get the power to change for good?” Paul said, “I want to know Him and the power of His resurrection.” The only power that can transform your life is in Jesus Christ. Not your power. Not a powerful in depth program. It comes from allowing the Holy Spirit to take control and change you from the inside out. Programs are fine to help encourage you when you’re down, but without that guiding power inside you, change is hard and generally won’t last.
The more you know Him, the greater the power to change.
