Roy’s Blog: “Driving Me Crazy”

Matthew 11:28 “Come unto me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

I remember one evening, many years ago, We were trying to get ready for bed and things were anything but peaceful. My wife and I got everything ready for the night, checked the doors, turned out the light, etc. Then we waited, and waited…for the kids to get ready for bed. They were dragging their feet (like kids will). I was worn out and just wanted to get a good night’s peaceful, restful sleep.

Finally, the kids were in bed, all was silence. Until…the cricket. You couldn’t help but hear its constant song. It seemed to be right there almost on my pillow. I got up flipped the light on…and it stops. I moved furniture looked in every nook and cranny. Nope. I got back in bed even more exhausted. And it started again! It was driving me crazy.

Several attempts later, I got him. Ah, now all was silence, and I got back in bed, got almost asleep, and there was the train in the distance, blowing it’s horn at every crossing.

Do you sometimes feel like things are driving you crazy? Do you just want some peace in your life…some rest in the crazy days we live in?

Thankfully, we can find rest and peace in the Lord.

Psalm 4:8 “In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.”
