Acts 2:2 “And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.”
All my life I have heard the sounds of sirens, horns, trains whistles and bells. I can’t imagine being somewhere I never heard a loud train whistle in the night or the rumble of trucks on the highway carrying their wares to the people that need them.
It must have been amazing seeing Jesus after the resurrection and watching Him ascend into heaven, then being gathered in the upper room to await His return. Hearing that great rushing wind break through the quiet stillness before the Holy Spirit descended on them would have been frightening but amazing. This happened almost 2000 years ago, but it shaped our world forever.
There is coming another amazing sound when: “The Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air…” (I Thessalonians 4:16-17)
Can you imagine “that amazing sound”? Can you imagine the sounds of “praise and glory” emanating from every angel in the heavens? Wow! What a day that will be!
