Psalm 27:1 “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”

Every day I see more and more men and women having panic attacks. They are overcome by what they see and feel and that breeds fear and anguish.

David faced the choice of faith or fear. In Psalm 27 David gives us a picture of a faith that triumphed in spite of a very real fear. He faced persecution, warfare, and the inability to trust even his own family members. His message in Psalms: your personal faith can overcome all fear when fellowship with God dominates your life. David began each and every day affirming that God Almighty was his light and his salvation, his safety was assured.

Because of the priority he placed on his relationship with God, fear could find no place. Jesus Christ is the light that dispels darkness and leads the way out of fear. David did not overcome his fear through understanding the scriptures or remembering what God had done for Abraham and Moses (even though those things were good to know and understand). His faith was built on ONE thing–his personal relationship with God.

Psalm 27:4 KJV “One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.”
