Roy’s Blog: “Hindsight Is 20/20” in a new tab)

Genesis50:20 Joseph said to his brothers, “You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about this present result, to preserve many people alive.”

“Hindsight is 20/20” the old adage says. Hindsight is actually one of the greatest tools toward deeper faith. It is through looking back that we can see how God’s plans unfolded in such amazing ways to fulfill His ultimate purposes.

When we’re in the midst of a crisis, we cry, “Why didn’t God answer my prayers? Why is He letting this happen? The fact is God heard your prayer. He just chose a different path. He is making moves beyond your understanding to move the world towards its final conclusion. How many times have you looked back on events in your life and realized why certain things happed. Sometimes we can. Other times we may not be in a position to see the total outcome of God’s plan. It’s by faith we accept that the outcome will be within God’s purpose and it will bring good.

There was a reason for the events in Joseph’s life and he was alive to see the outcome. In verse 22 it says, “And Joseph dwelt i Egypt, he and his father’s house and Joseph live an hundred and ten years.” Joseph save the nation of Israel from starvation by being where God put him.

There will be times when you look back and see events that happened you thought were terrible at the time, but now you say, “Okay, now I see what you were doing, God.” We may even look back on the year 2020 and see the plan God had for such a horrendous year, and we may not be around to see. Hopefully we’ll be caught up to be with Him!

Everything is happening to move individuals and nations to the climax of the age.
