Roy’s Blog: “Devastating Storms”

Psalm 56:3 (ESV) “When I am afraid, I put my trust in You.”

Isaiah 41:10 “Fear not, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God, I will strengthen you and help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

All of us here in Texas know about those straight line winds during a storm that can devastate trees and rip off roofs. We are also well aware of the vicious storms that spawn tornadoes, and lightning storms. Yesterday the weather map was white in East Texas where it showed thousands of lightning strikes–in only a thirty minute period.

We’ll talk about these storms and each has a story to tell. But, what about the upheavals in our hearts, our homes. There are storms that bring fear and anxiety into our lives on an otherwise beautiful day with no bad weather in sight. These storms can bring us to the point of collapse: broken relationships, financial burdens, a health crisis.

Our God sees all the trials, all the hurts and pain. They have not escaped His notice and He cares for each one. Remember, God said He would “never leave us or forsake us.” We have a comforter, helper, and guide in the Holy Spirit of God.

Jesus said, “Fear not, for I am with you.” Trust in God to help you weather all the storms of life.
