I Thessalonians 5:1-3 “Now as to the times and the epochs, brethren, you have no need of anything to be written to you. For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night. While they are saying, ‘Peace and safety!’ then destruction will come upon them suddenly like labor pains upon a woman with child, and they will not escape.”
If a woman knows her in-laws are coming for a visit, she will usually clean the house from top to bottom, have extra food in the fridge, even spray room freshener. But, if they haven’t given her a firm date, just said we are coming soon, how does she stay prepared. Eventually she will let a few things go a day or two. Yes, and that’s when they show up.
It’s wonderful knowing before Jesus return, there is only one thing we must do–trust in Jesus as Lord and Savior. We don’t know the day or hour, but we can be prepared at any moment. We see the signs, so we know to be ready.
Today thousands of American forces still remain scattered across the Arabian Peninsula, yet things are changing among the Gulf-Arab nations. These changes are transforming the whole area. The United States has removed its most advanced missile defense system and Patriot batteries from Saudi Arabia in recent weeks leaving them defenseless, even as air strikes continue from Yemen’s Houthi rebels, supported by Iran.
Now, Saudi Arabia and other gulf states (Sheba and Dedan in the Bible) are working with Israel in ways we couldn’t imagine a few years ago. We knew, by faith, it would come, and now we see how. With a growing realization that America will no longer help in the area, these countries are beginning to rely on each other for their security.
The world is hurting today. It’s in turmoil. All the signs tell me the time is “Coming Soon” when it will be TOO LATE to prepare!
