Romans 8:22 “We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in pains of childbirth right up to the present time.”
A few years ago, up in a northeastern state, people were reporting strange sounds coming from what they thought was the earth around them. They said it sounded like loud groaning. I don’t know if they ever figured out what caused it, but I think the “scientists” said it was probably caused by the tectonic plates rubbing as they moved across each other. I’m sure though, it must have been pretty scary.
You and I can’t begin to imagine what the Cumbre Vieja volcano on the island of La Palma, Spain would cause if a major eruption split a large portion of the island off and fell into the Atlantic. This was feared during the last eruption a couple of weeks ago. Much of the east coast of America would get hit with a tsunami that would travel 650 mph (miles per hour) causing a wave 130-160 feet high, taking it 12 1/2 miles inland.
We’ve never had a super volcano erupt in recorded history, but we know from the geological and fossil records that they are a very real danger. When Mt. St. Helens exploded in 1980, super heated gas traveled 300 mph over hills and valleys destroying everything in it’s path. Ash spread around the globe.
There will come a time during the last days when volcanic eruptions and other terrible disasters will take place. A time like has never been seen before.
I don’t plan on being here to see any of that. I plan on being safe in the glorious arms of Jesus. Where will you be?
