Hosea 6:3 “Let us know; let us press on to know the Lord; his going out is sure as the dawn; he will come to us as the showers, as the spring rains that water the earth.”
Spring…what a wonderous time. It is only 66 days/8 hours/ 41 minutes from now as I am writing this. Not that I’m counting (well…yes, I am). I hate the cold now that I am older. It makes my bones hurt. Now I’ll stay in bed just a little longer, not for sleep, but because I dread those first minutes after I get out from under the cover.
Long ago those cold winter days were not so depressing. Today, the idea of spring and warmer weather being near causes me to rejoice. Days when my nose isn’t running because of the cold; days where I don’t have to layer up in winter jackets and coats.
Green grass, flowers, and the smell of freshly plowed ground, the awakening of new life, and warmth, these are spring. I’m reminded of Hosea 6:3 that says the Lord will come to us as the spring rains that water the earth. He comes into your life as a refreshing newness. You feel different, and you begin to grow in that new life, leaving the dark winter of the old life behind.
