Roy’s Blog: “Loaded Dice”

Proverbs 16:33 (NLT) “We may throw the dice, but the Lord determines how they fall.”

Many decisions throughout history were made by the throw of the dice (or casting of lots), even in the solving of who would get Jesus’ garment. Some crooks learned to weight or “load” dice to make them fall a certain way.

Russia and Ukraine are the number one and number two grain producers in the world. Because of the war that is raging in Ukraine, their production will fall dramatically. And of course, since sanctions have been placed on Russia it will only send grain to certain countries, leaving many poor countries with food shortages.

On top of that, the third leading producer of grain, the United States, is in the midst of high fertilizer costs and severe drought in the West and hampering wet and cold conditions in the Midwest affecting our crop production. Our supply chain has been “tampered with” (I’m afraid by our own present government) and now we are in danger of seeing empty shelves in stores across the country. Make no mistake, the dice are loaded for us to have food shortages like we have never seen.

We forget how fragile our world is in many respects and how quickly everything can change when the dice are loaded against us.
