China’s military deployed forces all around the island of Taiwan over the weekend in a set of large-scale “military drills” that one Chinese military analyst called a “Rehearsal of possible real action.” While Taiwan governs itself as an independent nation, China considers the island a part of its territory and Chinese officials have repeatedly discussed “reunification” with the island, “including by means of military force.”
Meanwhile, the Israeli Defence Force (IDF) has opened the largest training drill in Israel’s history called “Chariots of Fire” as tensions boil over in the West Bank amid a string of deadly terror attacks in Israel. This is the largest exercise in Israel’s history and includes the air force, navy, and regular and reserve forces. The four-week drill will simulate a multifront and multidimensional war against Israel’s enemies.
