Proverbs 27:1 (NASB) “Do not boast about tomorrow for you do not know what a day may bring forth.”
One thing stands out about today. Everyone needs to have their lives in order. During the “Monday Night Football” game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Buffalo Bills on January 2, 2023, millions of viewers watched in dismay as Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest on the field after making a relatively light routine tackle. His life, at 24, hung in the balance. Life saving measures were performed before loading him into the ambulance and rushing him to a nearby hospital.
Let’s face it. Life can change in an instant, the blink of an eye. This young man’s injury has served as a reminder to millions just how fragile life can be. It has been a reminder of our own mortality and reminds us that we all have an appointment with eternity. If that were you lying on that field or in that hospital, what would be your next step? James 4:14 states, “You do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.”
Damar Hamlin had lifesaving methods performed on his body by technicians standing at the ready, and he was brought back to life from death’s door. The question I want to ask you, “Have you had eternal lifesaving performed on you? Is Jesus Christ your lifesaver for eternity? When calamity comes into your life, are you ready?
