Roy’s Blog: “Mercy”

https://bphowlett.wordpress.com/?p=7212

Psalms 123:3 (KJV) “Have mercy on us, O Lord, have mercy upon us; for we are exceedingly filled with contempt.”

When we drive down the road early in the morning and see those red and blue lights flashing from behind us, we look down and realize we are definitely speeding and just know those lights are for us. I don’t know about you, but the first thing that enters my mind is “please have mercy on me”!

Isn’t that what we all want? Mercy. We know we are guilty. We deserve our fate. No amount of excuses changes that. And even if we haven’t been exactly merciful to others, we still want mercy for ourselves. As Jesus walked this earth, many people along the way cried out to Him for mercy. Each one had individual needs. For some it was the need for physical healing. For others it was from possession by demons who were tormenting them.

Jesus’ love and mercy were endless, even as far as to the cross to die for us. He is our example of love and mercy to others. We all need His mercy, for without it we are lost sinners. But too many times PRIDE stands in the way. SELF gets in the way. (I can do it myself. I’m fine. I don’t need anybody. (The devil is whispering in your ear). These things will stand between you and Christ, and the devil is fine with that, but are you? Allow the mercy of God to fill your life with hope and an everlasting promise.

Matthew 5:7 (KJV) “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.”
