John 15:20a (NASB) “Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A slave is not greater than his master; if they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you…'”
I grew up and have lived most of my life in the heart of the “Bible Belt” in America as the son, grandson, and nephew of preachers. But in the last several years we have seen a nationwide campaign to de-platform and harass Christians. In fact, conservative, Bible-believing Christians are considered synonymous with being a “hate group”.
Dozens of major organizations are working together to suppress speech that they don’t like-any speech that doesn’t fit their agenda. Many have had their social media accounts “de-platformed” and even “de-banked”. That means that funding they had coming through their media accounts for churches or those that have shows where people pay for access stops, and those accounts are lost.
Nineteen state attorneys general asserted last Tuesday that J.P. Morgan Chase “de-banked” organizations for their conservative and religious tendencies. Some of the ones “de-banked” were the “National Committee for Religious Freedom”, “The Family Council”, and the “Defense of Liberty”. Of course, J.P. Morgan Chase is not the only financial institution doing this. Many others (such as PayPal) have also been shutting down accounts that belong to Christian groups and Christian individuals.
It was only a few years ago (around the time Obama was President) that they tried to silence Pastors, going so far as to suggest the pastor needed to have his sermons pre-approved before he could present them. That didn’t fly! So they went to plan B. It’s funny (not) to me how most of the true hate speech I hear is not coming from the conservatives in America but from the left. They have made it clear that anyone who follows Christian Biblical principles is the enemy.
Dearly Beloved, it will only get worse. But, hold on to those time-tested principles and you will be able to stand until the end.
