Roy’s Blog: “Trust God In The Storm”

https://bphowlett.wordpress.com/2020/02/04/roys-blog-trust-god-in-the-storm

James 1:2-3 “Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.”

We all face storms throughout our lives. We have all had problems, some little some big, but we have to deal with them. Sometimes they seem never ending.

What God gives believers is not the absence of problems, but the power to go through them and come out stronger. Problems are sometimes like air turbulence in a plane. You can’t see it coming, but when you hit it, you feel it. We can either be filled with panic, or with God’s peace.

Three things to remember when the storms of life come at you out of the blue:

  1. Stop. Get your eyes off the problem and onto God. Isaiah 42:1-2 says God is with you, no matter what you go through.
  2. God loves you no natter what you are going through. You are in His constant care. Hebrews 13:5 “I will not desert you or forget you.”
  3. God is in control. Psalm 91:14b “I will protect those who trust in my name.”

We fear too much because we trust God too little!

Roy’s Blog:”Power To Change Your Life”

https://bphowlett.wordpress.com/2020/02/03/roys-blogpower-to-change-your-life

Plilippians 3:10 “…that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death.”

The number one question many ask me is, “Why can’t I change?” Some will say, “I want to change, but I don’t know how.”  Or, “I don’t have the power to change.”

Romans 7:15 (ESV) “For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.”

Paul said his greatest desire was to know Jesus Christ and the power of His resurrection. Paul is saying he had the same struggles. He wanted to do what he knew to be right and good, but kept doing things he did not want to do.

Why do we struggle? Galations 5:17 “For the flesh craves what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are opposed to each other, so that you do not do what you want to do.”

More and more people go to recovery groups of various kinds looking for the painless cure that’s going to zap their life and change them instantly. After a few weeks, they feel better, their enthusiasm wanes, they stop going, and they eventually go back to the same things they were doing before.

How do you get the real power to change your life? The power comes through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. You have to personally tap into that power–through a life-changing experience.

While on this earth, there is still a battle with our fleshly bodies. It is a daily struggle to not give in to what the flesh wants, but to listen to the Holy Spirit. Jesus said, “But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” (John 14:26)

The Holy Spirit is your daily champion showing you the right path. Listen.

Paul said, “I want to know the power of the resurrection.” You must want to know His power to change.

Roy’s Blog: “You Always Have An Audience”

https://bphowlett.wordpress.com/2020/02/01/roys-blog-you-always-have-an-audience

Proverbs 5:21 “For a mans ways are in full view of the Lord, and He examines their paths.”

The Bible says nothing in creation is hidden from God. Psalm 147:5 “…His understanding has no limit.”

Psalm 139 explains that God knows everything about you. We say we understand God knows everything, but we don’t act like it. We don’t act in the same manner as if God were standing right in front of us. He might as well be, because nothing is secret from God. God knows what is behind every locked door. He knows the things shoved way back in our hearts that we think are hidden. He knows our pain. He knows our sin.

When Adam sinned, the first thing he did was run away and hide. God comes walking through the garden and asks, “Adam, where are you?” God knew where Adam was. Adam needed to admit where he was, that he had gone away from God.

We need to admit how far we have moved away from God.

Psalm 69:5 “My sins, O God,  are not hidden from you; you know how foolish I have been.”

Roy’s Blog: “Living A Life That Counts”

https://bphowlett.wordpress.com/2020/01/31/roys-blog-living-a-life-that-counts

Psalm 32:10 “Many are the sorrows of the wicked, but he who trusts in the Lord, lovingkindness shall surround him.”

If you had to write in one sentence how your life is making a difference, how it counts…what would you say?

The fact is we all affect each other in one way or another, whether it is our family, co-workers, or friends. This is why we should carefully consider what our lifestyle, our words, and our attitudes are communicating to those around us. How we live makes an eternal difference in other people’s lives as well as our own.

The Lord has entrusted each of us with the responsibility for His purpose and plan for our lives. The real issue is our faithfulness with what God has given us. It’s an everyday, all the time thing. You can’t go to church on Sunday, sing hymns, bow your head in prayer, then act like the devil during the week.

Matthew 5:16 “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.”

Roy’s Blog: “Harpazo (Rapture)”

https://bphowlett.wordpress.com/2020/01/30/roys-blog-harpazo-rapture

I Thessalonians 4:17 “Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up (Greek-harpazo) together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”

When the bride of Christ is raptured, we will sit down at the marriage supper and take communion (as He promised in Luke 22:18), “I will not drink of the fruit of the vine from now on until the Kingdom of God comes…” This expresses our love and loyalty forever to King Jesus.

God heard His people’s cries for redemption (in Egypt), and He sent Moses to deliver them.

Just as God delivered the children of Israel when the right time came, Jesus Christ is coming again to rescue His brothers and sisters from the slavery of a sin filled world. We are going to the marriage supper of the Lamb. Hallelujah!

“Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” Revelation 19:9

Roy’s Blog: “Help For The Battle”

https://bphowlett.wordpress.com/2020/01/29/roys-blog-help-for-the-battle

Ephesians 6:11 “Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.”

There are so many things happening today. It seems like we are caught up in a whirlwind.

Trump released his ‘Deal of the Century’ and, of course, controversy is going strong among the nations.

The impeachment against our President, Donald Trump, is still in full swing, with the Democratic led House pushing to drag it out even more, over what has already been established are non-impeachable offenses. Our whole nation, our Constitution, the office of President, and even the House are being dragged through the mud.

In the meantime, more important issues are being practically ignored by the main-stream media. The whole world is on alert about the new ‘coronavirus’. It has spread from China to many nations, including the United States. Now, you don’t have to go to China to get it–it can be spread from person to person just like a cold or influenza. The symptoms are much the same to start out, but the pneumonia this virus produces is more deadly. And, as yet, there is no vaccine for it. Nerves are frayed around the globe when they hear the predictions that 65 million could become infected.

There is a battle going on in our world, and we need to be prepared with the full armor of God, because : “Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12

Full armor of God: Belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, feet fitted with readiness that comes from the gospel of peace, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God.

Roy’s Blog: “History Being Made”

https://bphowlett.wordpress.com/2020/01/28/roys-blog-history-being-made

Daniel 9:27 “He [the Antichrist] will make a firm covenant [stronger, better] with Israel for seven years.”

President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will make history today. The long delayed Trump peace plan will be rolled out today Tuesday 1/28/2020. “We are in the critical hour of designating the national and security border of the State of Israel. President Trump’s plan could be a ‘significant milestone,'” said the Blue and White party leader in Israel, Gantz.

These are the critical hours of world history, centered on Israel, and leading up to the future expanded treaty that will be (according to Bible prophecy) guaranteed by the Antichrist to unveil in the last seven years of the dispensation of grace.

What will be offered to Israel today in conjunction with already offered conditions? I don’t know. But, can you imagine if it is the building of the long awaited Third Temple?

World history is being made–today.
