Roy’s Blog: “A Merry Heart”

Proverbs 17:22 “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine, but a broken spirit drieth the bones.”

Scientists say laughter and happiness release healing power in your body.

A day without laughter is like a day without sunshine. The question is: Can you have joy in the days of trouble? Yes! You can. Paul stated (from his prison cell), “Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say rejoice.” Philippians 4:4

James 1:2 says, “Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials.” Happiness depends on what happens, what you encounter during the day, your ‘mood’. Not everyday is going to go as planned. Not every day is going to be wonderful.

True joy happens no matter what is going on. It is a state of the heart. A merry heart finds the joy present in every day–the joy of the presence of Jesus Christ in our heart.

In Christ, when you look into a mirror, you are looking at royalty. You are ‘Royal Ambassadors’, taking Christ to the world around you. You have reason to be merry. Rejoice!
